2014 Great Steps for NF October 4th

Join Kaitlyn in the fight against Neurofibromatosis!
Carrie Dewey

Neurofibromatosis is a genetic chromosome disorder that effects the nerves. NF can cause tumors to grow anywhere on the body at any time. Neurofibromatosis can also cause learning delays, hearing and vision loss, cancer, deformities in the bones, epilepsy and much more. Kaitlyn was diagnosed when she was an infant. At age eleven she has four lesions on the inside the layers of her brain, one lesion on the outside of her skull, one between her brain and her skull in the back of her head, one between the hemispheres, and one in her hip. NF has challenged her with learning delays and epilepsy. She receives physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech and resource assistance in school. In addition to the many doctor visits throughout every year, she usually has an MRI and\or EEG annually. She is very lucky that neurofibromatosis has not become terminal. NF research will benifit Kaitlyn and her family greatly. Please help Kaitlyn spread the awareness of NF, as she struggles in her fight against neurofibromatosis.

3rd Annual Krop for Kaitlyn 2013

Kaitlyn is taking riding lessons!

Kaitlyn is growing fast. She is now in the 5th grade. She receives resource several times a day in addition to speech therapy and evaluated for OT and PT regularly. In her off time from school she enjoys riding lessons, playing with her dolls and toy horses, pretend cooking, drawing, playing with her collection of VW matchbox cars. She loves making friends rather they are people or animals. Her smile tends to brighten everyones day. She is preparing for the 4th annual Great Steps for NF Walk to raise neurofibromatosis awareness on August 31st. She also has Krop for Kaitlyn fundraiser to raise money for her medical bills coming up on November 9th. She stays pretty busy. Medically her leisons are throughout her head and one in her hip. At this point in her life she only suffers from mental delays. We are thankful that she doesn't have any pain or discomfort. We thank everyone for all that you do for her.
